The co-hosts of The View talked about Barbara Walter’s incident at the airport, the outrage over the Iran election, and disciplining children. They also interviewed television personality and author, Nancy Grace.

Barbara Walters recently went to California to complete a series of interviews with Farrah Fawcett for a special on 20/20. Barbara said that when she flew to California she was wearing a zippered top with a shirt underneath and thought she was wearing the same thing when she flew back to New York. However, she was wearing the zippered top with nothing underneath. Barbara unzipped her top halfway down in the airport and someone traveling with her immediately notified her that she was revealing herself to everyone looking. On the flight, Lindsay Lohan sat diagonally in front of Barbara Walters, and Lindsay tweeted about Barbara being nice to her. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said “you’re tweethearts.”
The women discussed the election outrage in Iran. They showed a clip of a 16 year old girl being killed by a sniper bullet. Whoopi Goldberg said that people are able to see what is really happening due to social media and the internet. Elisabeth was not satisfied with President Obama’s response and said that she wanted stronger actions taken. All of the other co-hosts asked her what she meant by stronger actions and “more than words” but Elisabeth did not give a clear answer. Joy Behar responded by saying that we can’t always get involved and fix everything. Barbara Walters said that they can only hope that there won’t be more bloodshed.
According the The View, a website published photographs of Liv Tyler getting into a shouting match with a mom that was hitting her child. The View co-hosts reported that they didn’t know if it was the child’s mother involved and what was meant by hitting. Barbara asked the co-hosts, “At what point do you interfere?” Sherri Shepherd stated that she disciplines her son by hitting him on bottom with a wooden spoon. She said that she was in a public place and pulled the wooden spoon out to show her son and a woman approached her to ask if everything was alright. Sherri said that she didn’t like the woman interfering. Whoopi said, “A swat on the behind is not a bad thing.” Joy disagreed.
Nancy Grace on The View
The author of, The Eleventh Victim [Hyperion, 2009], discussed current court cases on The View. The co-hosts asked her about Amanda Knox who is on trial in Italy due to accusations that she murdered her roommate. Nancy said that if Amanda is found guilty, she will serve a long sentence. However, Nancy reported that she doesn’t believe she will be found guilty due to a lot of holes in the prosecution’s case.
The View co-hosts asked Nancy about the murder of Caylee Anthony. Nancy reported that the grandparents tearfully requested that the autopsy reports not be released. However, the autopsy reports were made public. There is a video of Casey Anthony when she found out that her daughter’s remains had been found, and her attorney requested that the tapes not be released. Nancy said that if she was Casey’s attorney she would have done the same thing.
